A simple, fresh tomato sauce made from whole peeled tomatoes. Naturally sweet and perfect for pasta.

Ingredients

  • 28 oz whole peeled tomatoes (one 28 oz can)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper (to taste)
  • 6 leaves fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 3

Pour in the whole tomatoes with their juice.

  4. 4

Use a wooden spoon or potato masher to break up the tomatoes right in the pan.

  5. 5

    Season with salt and pepper.

  6. 6

Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens up.

  7. 7

Tear in some fresh basil at the end if you have it.

  8. 8

Toss with your cooked pasta and serve.
